Description
Hyperon spin correlations have recently attracted significant interest as a probe of QCD spin dynamics. A recent theoretical study suggests that the spin correlation for Λ hyperon pairs is a sensitive probe to separate strong-force-field-induced vector meson spin alignment from hydrodynamic effects, and to probe spin-orbit coupling, polarization transfer, and possible spin entanglement in fragmentation.
Using high-statistics ALICE data, we present the first precision measurements of spin correlations for Λ¯Λ, ΛΛ, and ¯Λ ¯Λ pairs in pp collisions at √s = 13.6 TeV, as a function of their relative separation in pseudorapidity and azimuth, and compare them with model predictions. These measurements constrain spin generation and hadronization models, distinguish fragmentation from recombination, and serve as a reference for future heavy-ion studies, where hyperon spin correlations separate hydrodynamic and strong-field contributions to spin polarization.
