Description
Heavy-ion collisions are studied to probe hot, dense nuclear matter, known as the quark–gluon plasma (QGP). While flow-like signatures observed in pp and p–Pb collisions at the LHC suggest that QGP-like behavior may emerge even in small systems, jet quenching has so far remained unobserved in such collisions. To better understand the transition between small and large collision systems, the LHC has recently collected light-ion collision data. We present jet-like dihadron correlation measurements in light-ion (pO, O–O and Ne–Ne) collisions at $\sqrt{s_{\mathrm{NN}}}=5.36~\mathrm{TeV}$ recorded by the ALICE Collaboration and compared to the pp collision system. The width of the near-side jet-fragmentation correlation peak and fragmentation yields are studied across these systems. The results are also compared with model calculations including and excluding jet-quenching scenarios.
