Description
Jet quenching provides a powerful probe of the properties and space-time structure of the quark-gluon plasma (QGP) created in high-energy nuclear collisions. In particular, the dependence of jet observables on the jet cone size offers direct sensitivity to the angular redistribution of energy induced by medium-modified parton showers and medium response. In this work, we investigate the cone-size dependence of dijet quenching in both Pb–Pb and O–O collisions within the Linear Boltzmann Transport (LBT) model.
We calculate the dijet momentum imbalance $x_J=p_{\mathrm{T},2}/p_{\mathrm{T},1}$ and the nuclear modification factor $R_{AA}$ for different jet cone sizes, and systematically compare their medium modifications in Pb–Pb and O–O collisions. The comparison between the two collision systems allows us to quantify the system-size dependence of parton energy loss and examine how the finite size of the QGP affects the redistribution of energy inside and outside the reconstructed jet cone.
Furthermore, we study the energy-energy correlator inside jets to resolve the angular structure of medium-induced modifications and to investigate the respective contributions from medium-induced radiation and medium response. These results provide a unified picture of the cone-size and system-size dependence of dijet quenching, and offer new constraints on the mechanisms of jet-medium interactions in QGP systems ranging from heavy to light nuclei.
