Description

Abstract:
The Cooling Storage Ring (CSR) External-target Experiment (CEE) is a large-scale nuclear physics experiment constructed at the Heavy Ion Research Facility in Lanzhou (HIRFL-CSR). It aims to investigate the Quantum Chromodynamics (QCD) phase diagram at high baryon density, the nuclear equation of state, and physics related to compact astrophysical objects. As the central tracking detector of the CEE spectrometer, the Time Projection Chamber (TPC) is designed to provide precise measurements of charged-particle trajectories and particle identification.

This report presents the key technologies developed for the construction of the CEE-TPC, including the detector structure, readout electronics, and auxiliary systems. The TPC adopts a double-sided mirror-symmetric configuration, combined with Gas Electron Multiplier (GEM) amplification, radial pad readout, and SAMPA-based front-end electronics to achieve high-precision tracking performance. To meet the requirements of low material budget, high-voltage stability, electric field uniformity, and high-rate operation, several critical components have been designed and implemented, including the drift electrode and field cage system, endcap detector module, and low-material-budget gas-tight chamber.

In addition, auxiliary systems, including an Ar+CO₂ gas supply system, a laser calibration system, and an electronics cooling system, have been developed to ensure stable operation of the TPC. The research provides essential detector technologies and technical support for precision measurements of the properties of cold dense nuclear matter.
