Description
The three-dimensional structure of the nucleon is encoded in transverse momentum dependent parton distribution functions (TMD PDFs), among which the Sivers function describes the correlation between the transverse momentum of partons and the transverse spin of the proton. Dijet production in transversely polarized proton collisions provides a unique probe of the initial-state partonic transverse momentum and allows access to the Sivers effect with reduced fragmentation-related contributions. In this analysis, we investigate the Sivers asymmetry in dijet production using transversely polarized pp and p+Au collision data collected by the STAR experiment in 2015 at 200 GeV. The comparison between pp and p+Au collisions provides an opportunity to study possible modifications of the Sivers effect induced by cold nuclear matter effects. The current status of the analysis, including dijet reconstruction and raw asymmetry extraction, will be presented.
